Fruit Of The Spirit – Love
Heaven’s Real Life Savers
Believers are designed to experience the Spirit Filled Life.
I Corinthians 6:19-20 Ephesians 5:17-18
Failing to walk in the Spirit is to live beneath our dignity.
It is not the “Fruits” of the Spirit, But the “Fruit” of the Spirit.
The Fruit of the Spirit is Singular, yet the Fruit of the Spirit comes in nine wonderful flavors.
Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, and Temperance
Dr. W. A. Criswell writing about the Fruit of the Spirit:
“A believer never has one of the graces unless it is accompanied by all other eight of them. It takes nine of them to make the Child of God beautiful in His life. There is a singular Fruit of the Spirit, and all nine graces shine in the Life of God’s Child.”
Dr. W. A. Criswell Continues:
“Now do you notice there are three triads. three trilogies?”
- Love, Joy Peace; These three graces pertain to God
- Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness; Pertain to our fellow believers
- Faith, Meekness, Temperance; Pertain to us.
Notice the Fruit of the Spirit begins with God, is shown to others, and affects our hearts.
JOY – Jesus, Others, and You
Heaven’s Fruit of the Spirit, like lifesavers, comes in nine wonderful flavors. These nine graces describe and demonstrate the Fruit of the Spirit in a Child of God.
Pastor John McArthur in his commentary identifies many reasons Christians are told to love one another.
- Love is of God – I John 4:7-8
- Love is from God – I John 4:9-10
- Love is for God – I John 4:11-12
- Love is like God – I John 4:13-14
- Love is in God – I John 4:15-16
- Love is as God – I John 4:17-19
- Love is with God – I John 4:20-21
Love is the first of nine wonderful flavors of the Fruit of the Spirit.
This love taste great to the Child of God. To enjoy God’s Love, it must be said, “against such there is No Law.”
God’s Love is the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Walk in Love,
Pastor David Hart
